Yesterday was Apple’s WWDC 2023, which means new computers, new operating systems… even some virtual reality and augmented reality glasses that have left us completely fascinated: the Apple Vision Pro.

Everyone is obsessed with Apple’s VR/AR glasses, and it’s understandable. Firstly, because the price is outrageously high, and secondly, because they are incredibly interesting. They are one of the most technologically advanced products we have seen in years.

But of course, it’s Apple. Everything from Apple comes with a higher price tag compared to the competition. At least when it comes to watches and computers, Samsung has managed to match their prices in the mobile phone market.

So, are the Apple Vision Pro the most expensive product in Apple’s official store? Sadly, no. If we want to set up the best computer for working at home using Apple products, the costs can reach up to 20,000 euros, which is no laughing matter.

Like a new car, that’s what the best Mac is worth

If we go to the Apple Store and start configuring the Mac Pro, which is Apple’s most powerful desktop computer of all, the numbers begin to grow exponentially.

Firstly, the base model costs 8,399 euros and will be available for pre-order on June 13th. Even as the automotive sector is already quite expensive, the base price of this computer is comparable to that of a used car. But let’s continue adding improvements:

  • Next, we add the M2 Ultra chip with the 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU configuration, which adds an additional 1,150 euros.
  • Then, we upgrade the RAM to 192 GB, which costs an additional 1,840 euros.
  • After that, we add the 8 TB SSD, which will set us back another 2,530 euros. It’s quite a bargain, to be honest.
  • Shall we include wheels? Of course, that’s an extra 500 euros.
  • And let’s not forget the mouse and trackpad, as we can’t operate the computer without them: 159 euros.

All of this adds up to a total of 12,738 euros. But of course, we’re only talking about the tower. We still need to add a monitor, right? Let’s continue in the Apple Store to complete the configuration of the company’s top-of-the-line computer.

We choose a Pro Display XDR with the nanotexture glass, which costs 6,499 euros. We also add an adjustable height arm for the monitor, which costs 1,099 euros… and there you have it: 20,336 euros for the computer, peripherals, and monitor.

As you can see, choosing to buy the best Apple computer in 2023 is like choosing a well-equipped new car. Tim Cook certainly presents us with some tough decisions! Are they worth it? Don’t miss yesterday’s computer presentation to find out.
